2020 became 2021…

See me in two features coming out this year.

House Red Poster

Still awaiting cinema release of the British horror pic, ‘House Red’, where  I play the Sicilian Mayor.

‘A couple travel to a remote vineyard in the south of Italy to spend the summer grape picking. They soon discover that there is more to the terroir than meets the eye.’ Intrigued, terrifed? You probably will be. 17 Oct 11th RIVOLI host Ceiling

Directed by recent award-winner, Cos Greenop, who also produced with Tamer Hassan, Camilla Storey and others.  This backstage selfie taken on location gives nothing away.

2021 – staying creative

It was oh-so quiet in 2020 and 2021 has started slowly too. Some auditions but no acting roles yet; very little media work coming my way due to the cutback in filming.  Here at home, I have been practising characterisation by making self-tapes, short audition-style scenes, adapted from film, television and theatrical sources. Some self-penned and improvised material too. And a few songs.

I have started writing a radio play which may yet become a piece for the theatre. Am doing historical research for two biographical writing projects, which might become short stories. Am also gathering materials to make a pitch for a biographical television documentary set in the 1950s’ world of West End theatre revues.

Also, during the Year of Lockdowns, I have been employing my building ability. To give an idea of my skillset, I have built a large dresser from scratch in my kitchen, formed two rooms by building a sound-proofed stud wall. My son and I dressed the kitchen splashbacks with Fired Earth tiles, cut to form a colourful mosaic. Large tiles and mosaics in the new bathroom. Then I got up on the roof for annual maintenance. To earn a few bob, I also did some restoration and repair work on other houses: I formed and tiled a patio, dressed it with trellises. I repaired a few more roofs, working from my own scaffolding tower; plumbed in some kitchen appliances, made a few small electrical repairs and did a number of small woodwork projects. Any work inside anybody else’s premises has, of course, been limited.
